Fake news, real consequences: Tackling information disorder
This workshop is designed to build young people’s skills and confidence in recognising misinformation and disinformation online, equipping them with the skills to critically evaluate information and act responsibly online.
During the session, young people will:
- Look at the amount of information they encounter every day and better understand how the brain responds to processing this information
- Learn the differences between misinformation, disinformation and mal-information
- Explore a case study of how disinformation can spread online, and the real world consequences of this
- Use the Government SHARE framework and their critical thinking skills to decide on the reliability of social media posts
