10 years ago today, on 17th March 2015, the Since 9/11 artwork was unveiled by the then Mayor of London, Boris Johnson. The Since 9/11 artwork is made from WTC steel and is permanently erected in the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in London.
The WTC steel that the artwork is made from was gifted to the UK by the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey in 2010 on the condition that it be permanently sited in a prominent London location.
New York artist Miya Ando was commissioned by UK-based educational charity SINCE 9/11 to create the 28ft-tall, 4-ton artwork that acts as a beacon for SINCE 9/11’s Education Programmes.
