Assemblies are a powerful way of marking key events with large numbers of students. They can be used as a one-off, as the starting point for further work through tutor time, lessons or a whole school event, or as the culmination of work done previously.
None of the pupils in school today were born in September 2001, and many will be wondering what happened that day and why it happened. They may have questions about the day itself or about what relevance it has to them today.
Below are three examples of assemblies, which can be adapted for use with students of different age groups in your secondary school or college.
These assemblies, and supporting FAQs, have been designed to be delivered by school leaders and teachers, helping develop students’ critical thinking skills and promote dialogue through the events of 9/11.
