Twenty-five years after the events of 11 September 2001, the National September 11 Memorial & Museum is inviting people from around the world to pause, reflect and remember.
For many who lived through that day, one memory has remained remarkably vivid: the brilliant blue sky over New York on the morning of 11 September 2001. For younger generations, however, 9/11 is something they know only through the stories they have heard, the books they have read and the lessons they have been taught.
To mark the 25th anniversary, the Museum has launched the Blue Sky Remembrance Wall – a permanent digital memorial where people can share memories, reflections and messages of remembrance. The aim is to preserve these stories for future generations and to honour those who were killed, the first responders and the countless acts of courage, service and compassion that followed.
At SINCE 9/11, we believe remembrance is about more than looking back. It is about ensuring that future generations understand not only what happened on 11 September 2001, but also the human stories, the resilience shown by communities and the lessons that continue to shape our world today.
